What Vinyl accesses

Vinyl reads playback-change notifications published locally by the Spotify and Apple Music desktop apps. These include the current track title, artist, album, track identifier, and playback progress.

What Vinyl stores

Your wallpaper and setup preferences are stored locally on your Mac. Vinyl does not request or store any passwords or account credentials. No data is stored on any developer-operated server.

What Vinyl sends

Vinyl looks up album artwork for the currently playing song and downloads it from the music service's image servers. No other playback data is sent anywhere.

Anonymous usage analytics

Vinyl collects anonymous, aggregated usage data such as app launches and which music source is active. No personal data, device identifiers, or IP addresses are collected. No information about what you listen to is ever sent.

No tracking

Vinyl does not track you. There are no crash reporters, no ad networks, and no user profiles. The anonymous analytics described above cannot be linked to your identity.
